Many Verizon customers can’t hear you now.

There appears to be a widespread outage of Verizon cell phone service, according to DownDetector, an online site that monitors websites and services.

Where is Verizon down nationwide in the U.S.?

Nearly 105, 000 outages have been reported in the past 90 minutes, according to the site.

Indianapolis is among the cities with the most reported problems. Others are Chicago; Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Denver, Colorado; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Omaha,  Nebraska; Phoenix, Arizona; and Seattle, Washington.

More than half of those reporting problems are mobile phone users.

What does SOS mode mean?

If SOS or “SOS only” is in the status bar, the device isn’t connected to the customer’s cellular network. However, a user can still make emergency calls through other carrier networks, according to Apple.
