The Eagles have made 25-year-old Jalen Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history to start training camp.
Carter agreed to a four-year, $152 million contract extension worth up to $160 million, with $106 million guaranteed, his agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus told ESPN on Tuesday.
Philadelphia announced the news, sharing that the two-time Pro Bowl selection is now under contract through 2031, though it did not disclose the salary.
The Eagles picked up Carter’s fifth-year option for the 2027 season in April.
In 2025, Carter appeared in 11 games with 33 total tackles, 29 pressures, 12 quarterback hits, seven passes defensed, four tackles for loss and three sacks.
Carter, standing at 6-foot-3 and 314 pounds, was a key piece to Philadelphia’s 40-22 Super Bowl 2025 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
A 2023 first-round pick by the Eagles, Carter has 13.5 sacks, 37 quarterback hits, 121 quarterback pressures, 12 passes defensed and 108 tackles in his first three seasons.
Carter was a second-team All-Pro selection in 2024.
The Eagles open the 2026 regular season against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
