Jalen Hurts sparks social media frenzy after rocking Yankees hat to Eagles game

Is it a matter of style, or should Eagles fans have concern over a change in loyalties from Jalen Hurts?

Ahead of Philly’s eventual 31-0 win over the Raiders, the star Eagles quarterback trekked through the snow outside Lincoln Financial Field in green sweats and a bomber jacket, completing the look with a Yankees hat tucked under his hood.

Hurts, 27, received some heat for the fashion choice, given the Eagles are coming off a three-game skid, and he had five turnovers last week against the Chargers.

“Yankees hat?!?!?! Come on, Jalen, this is disgusting behavior and antithetical to the energy the Eagles need today,” an X user wrote. “Time to emotionally hedge and bang Raiders ML (spread is too easy).”

“Why is he putting more heat on himself?” a second added.

“Jalen Hurts brought me one of the most joyous events of my life,” another user posted. “This is just f–king stupid, lack of awareness of the situation. Kinda like an unforced interception in overtime when your team is driving and incredibly close to winning the game. That kinda stupid.”

Another pointed to the Yankees, adding, “Subtle foreshadowing that cash is gonna drop the ball this off season same way hurts has lately. you f–g hate to see it.”

However, some turned the other cheek.

“A Yankee hat is the most famous hat in the world. It shouldn’t even be looked at like a sports team hat. It’s literally a brand basically,” an X user posted.

“Man, everybody in Philly rocks a Yankees hat as a “style” choice, not necessarily a true fan,” another wrote. “Get over it.@JalenHurts is allowed!!”

It’s not something new to the city, as Allen Iverson also blended style into sports, no matter his fandom, and was a big fashion icon when playing for the 76ers.

Additionally, Hurts, a Houston native, is an Astros fan. He has also supported the Phillies since moving to Philadelphia.

Despite their dip in production and apparent locker room issues voiced by AJ Brown, the Eagles (9-5) still hold the top spot in the NFC East and added another victory to the win column Sunday.

Hurts went 12-for-15 passing for 175 yards and three touchdowns while he was sacked once. Tanner McKee later came into the game during the fourth quarter to replace Hurts under center. He was 3-for-3 with 33 yards.

Thus, Hurts shouldn’t be under too fire for the hat the rest of Sunday.
