The Jets are turning to their quarterback past to make it through the present.
A source confirmed that the team agreed to a trade with the Raiders on Tuesday to acquire quarterback Geno Smith, who played four seasons for the Jets after they took him in the second round of the 2013 draft.
The Jets sent Las Vegas a sixth-round pick in exchange for Smith and a seventh-round pick. The Raiders are also paying most of Smith’s 2026 salary.
Smith figures to be the team’s starter in 2026 with them eyeing the 2027 NFL Draft as the time to get a long-term solution at the position.
Smith, 35, had one dismal season with the Raiders after finding success with the Seahawks in 2022 and 2023.
