Joanna Gaines wants a seat at one celebrity chef’s Christmas dinner table.

The Fixer Upper star dished on her holiday opinions while on the set of Magnolia Network and Food Network’s Gingerbread Land: The Biggest Little Holiday Competition in an Instagram clip.

In the video, posted on Monday, Dec. 8, Gaines, 47, admitted to some hot takes around holiday hosting. She revealed that her favorite holiday dish comes from her mother (“I love my mom’s dressing,” the lifestyle expert said) and hesitantly revealed that she considers ham to be the most overrated holiday food.

But, when asked which of her fellow Food Network stars she’d most like to cook her holiday dinner, The Stories We Tell author was quick to answer.

Joanna Gaines and Ree Drummond

“Ree Drummond. I think we would have so much fun,” the mother of five, who founded Magnolia Network with her husband Chip Gaines, responded.

Despite both being longtime lifestyle experts with loyal foodie followings, Joanna and the Pioneer Woman star have not collaborated on any TV shows. Each has publicly championed the other, with Drummond telling USA Today in 2019, “I do see many similarities, and Joanna and I have exchanged an email or two cheering each other on.”

While Joanna wants to pull up a seat at Drummond’s table, when it comes to her own guests, she prefers that they get there earlier than asked.

“I would for sure rather them arrive early,” Gaines answered confidently when asked if partygoers should come 15 minutes early or late, admitting that she is “funny when [she] [plans] food.” “It’s like a production and you want it warm.”

While Gingerbread Land: The Biggest Little Holiday Competition concluded on Dec. 8, the Gaines have a new show to ring in the holiday season.

Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House follows the married duo as they tackle their first-ever Fixer Upper project outside of their home state of Texas.

The latest installment of the renovation franchise, which airs on Tuesday, Dec. 9, sees Chip and Joanna transform a 1960s mountain property into their family’s vacation home. Viewers will get to see the transformation in the three-part limited series.

Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House premieres Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. ET on Magnolia Network and HGTV, and will also be available for streaming the same day on HBO Max and discovery+.
