Josh Allen’s taking shots. Downfield, that is. Not at his ex-teammates.

Some interpreted recent comments made by the Bills quarterback as digs at his former teammates— particularly Stefon Diggs.

Allen and Diggs’ relationship has been scrutinized through the years, with the star receiver’s offseason trade to the Texans fueling the rumors even more.

“Everyone wants to keep making this thing a thing,” Allen told reporters Wednesday, per ESPN. “I know there’s a lot of people talking out there … I’m not trying to tear down anybody.”

The clarification came in response to a statement the quarterback made Monday night following the Bills’ 47-10 drubbing of the winless Jacksonville Jaguars.

“It’s a fun and wonderful thing when you got a bunch of guys that don’t care about the stats, they don’t care about the touchdowns,” Allen said during his postgame press conference.

Stephen A. Smith was quick in his assessment.

“Stefon Diggs— you know who you are, you heard what that man said,” Smith told viewers of “First Take” on Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday, Allen was asked specifically about Diggs,

“I love 14, I still do … We’re so focused on what’s going on inside of our building, and that’s the only thing we’re caring about right now,” Allen said.

The Diggs-Allen connection was among the most tantalizing in the NFL across their four seasons together in Buffalo as the team ascended to a perennial contender.

Diggs led the team in both targets and receiving yards each year, compiling a total of 445 catches for 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns in 66 games.

With Diggs and fellow wide receiver Gabe Davis leaving Buffalo during the offseason, there was concern that the Bills’ offense would regress this season.

Allen has quelled any cause for concern thus far— registering seven touchdowns through the air and two more on the ground.

The 3-0 Bills will look to keep rolling in Baltimore on Sunday night (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC) against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
