UPDATE 1/21 at 10:10 AM ET:

Justin Bieber clarified that he wasn’t the one to unfollow wife Hailey Bieber on Instagram.

“Someone went on my account and unfollowed my wife,” he wrote via Instagram Story on Tuesday, January 21. “S— is getting suss out here.”

The clarification came after fans realized that Justin, 30, stopped following Hailey, 28, on the social media app. Us Weekly confirmed that he wasn’t keeping up with his wife online, but Hailey was still following Justin.

Just hours earlier, Justin shared photos from his getaway with Hailey, writing via Instagram Story on Monday, January 20, “The greatest woman I have and will ever know.”

The fact that the duo have been spotted together in recent days has several commentators speculating that “the only reason” Justin was no longer following Hailey is “because he’s releasing new music” and the social media shakeup was a way to stir up intrigue. Meanwhile, other people shared photos of Justin and Hailey over the weekend in Aspen and pointed out that he “just posted a sweet message” to Hailey, who “liked his picture” one day prior.

Justin and Hailey have yet to publicly comment on the social media chatter. One month ago, Hailey appeared to clap back at separate social media speculation surrounding her marriage when she shared a viral video of TikTok user EyeGotThyme repeating the phrase, “You’re not well, and it’s OK.” Hailey wrote over the video, “Me to all of you on the internet 🫶🏻” The social media upload came after another TikTok fan speculated whether Hailey and Justin spent the holidays together.

The couple first started dating in 2015 before calling it quits one year later. After their split, Justin briefly rekindled his on-off romance with Selena Gomez, but they called it quits for good in 2018. Later that year, Justin and Hailey rekindled their relationship and got engaged. They exchanged vows in a New York City courthouse in September 2018 before hosting a second wedding ceremony one year later.

Hailey has since shared insight into their whirlwind marriage, including how she stands by Justin amid his ups and downs.

“I remember I called [my mom] a few different times, one particular time [when] we were in Brooklyn and I was calling her, crying, and I was like, ‘I just can’t do it. There’s no way that I’m going to be able to do this if it’s going to be like this forever,’” she explained during an episode of the “In Good Faith with Chelsea & Judah Smith” podcast in November 2021. “And I just remember she was so calm on the phone and she was like, ‘It’s going to pass, you’re going to be fine and he’s going to be healthy and we’re here for you.’”

Hailey added: “But I also just think I was in it. I made a decision. I know for a fact that I’ve loved this person for a very long time and now would not be the time to give up on him. I just wouldn’t do that to him.”

“Imagine abandoning somebody in the middle of the worst time of their life, potentially. I’m not that type of a person,” she continued. “So I was going to stick it out no matter what the outcome was going to be. It was really hard. There were days where I literally was like, ‘I don’t know if he’s going to be OK.’ Something really deep down inside of me was like, ‘He’s going to be through it.’ I just didn’t know how long it was going to take.”

Justin has also discussed the lessons he learned in the early days of his marriage.

“It’s a journey. I remember when I first got married, I hit a little bit of an emotional breakdown because I thought marriage was going to fix all my problems and it didn’t,” he told Apple Music’s Ebro Darden in May 2022. “It just kind of was a reflection of like, ‘Man, you’re a bit of a hypocrite, man.’”

Hailey and Justin have since expanded their family with son Jack, whom they welcomed in August.

“There has been a total shift in their marriage since renewing their vows [in May 2024] and welcoming baby Jack,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “He’s truly brought them so much happiness and a renewed bond.”

According to the insider, fatherhood has put Justin in a good place mentally while Hailey’s “main priority is being a mom right now.”
