Can I still vote if polls close while I am in line?

If you’re in line at 9 p.m., you can still vote, according to the Monroe County Board of Elections. The Monroe County Board of Elections released the final voter turnout report until after polls close. As of 7 p.m., 133,393 registered voters have cast their ballot on Election Day 2025. This is 26.7% of Monroe County’s registered voters.

The Town of Greece remained the busiest town for voting, with a total of 17,332 people casting their ballots. The Town of Perinton came second with a total of 13,509 people casting their ballots. For Irondequoit, a total of 11,539 people cast their ballots. The City of Rochester recorded a total of 19,941 voters. Polls remain open until 9 p.m.

Where were voting hotspots in Monroe County today?

The Monroe County Board of Elections reported that as of 5 p.m., 111,687 registered voters have cast their ballots on Election Day. That’s 22.3% of Monroe County’s registered voters.

For the Town of Greece, 14,737 people have cast their ballots, making them the busiest town for voting. The next busiest town was Perinton, with 11,616 people casting their ballots. The City of Rochester has recorded a total of 15,961 people casting their ballots. Polls remain open and will close at 9 p.m.

Polls close for the 2025 general election at 9 p.m. in New York state, including Monroe County, where voters in cities, towns and some villages are electing mayors and town supervisors and council members and clerks and justices and judges and highway superintendents.

Mid-day voter turnout in Monroe County

As of 2 p.m., 84,403 registered voters – 16.9% of Monroe County’s registered voters – have cast their ballots on Tuesday, Election Day, according to the Monroe County Board of Elections. The busiest town of the day remains Greece, where 11,280 people cast their ballots as of 2 p.m. The second-busiest town remains Perinton, where 9,219 voters cast their ballots.

According to the Monroe County Board of Elections, 52,310 registered voters have cast their ballots in the first four hours of the 2025 general election. The figure is 10.5% of the county’s registered voters.

The busiest town so far on Election Day is Greece, where more than 7,100 registered voters cast their ballots. The town with the second most voters thus far was Perinton, where 6,600 people voted as of 10 a.m. The City of Rochester has 6,931 votes recorded in the same timeframe, according to the Board of Elections.

Early voting turnout in Rochester region

In Monroe County, 31,174 registered voters participated in the nine-day early voting period, which ended Sunday, according to the Monroe County Board of Elections. Monroe County has just over 529,000 registered voters total.

Nearly 4,100 Ontario County voters took advantage of early voting this election season, according to the Board of Elections. The figure was about two-thirds higher than it was in 2023, the most recent local election year, according to Board of Elections officials. Turnout is typically higher during a presidential election year, such as 2024. Ontario County has approximately 83,700 registered voters, according to the state Board of Elections.

When do polls close on Election Day in New York?

Polls close at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

How to find your poll site in New York?

The New York State Board of Elections has a tool to locate your polling place on its website. You will need to enter your name, five-digit zip code, date of birth and county of residence. The tool will show you where you must go to vote on Election Day. It also lists early voting sites within your county, but note that the early voting period ended on Sunday.

Can you vote in another NY polling place?

Not on Election Day. Voters must go to their designated polling site to cast an in-person ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 4. During early voting, registered voters could cast a ballot at any designated early voting site within their home county. The early voting period ended on Sunday, Nov. 2.

What do you need to vote in New York?

You do not need identification or a card from the Board of Elections in order to vote on Election Day. Bring your driver’s license with you, however, in case election inspectors need to verify your identification if your signature is not on file or to verify a name change.

When are absentee ballots due in NY?

Tuesday, Nov. 4. Mailed ballots must receive a postmark that’s no later than Nov. 4. and the ballot must be received by Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Can I register to vote on Election Day in NY?

No. New York does not offer same-day voter registration on Election Day.
