We made it. Fall is officially here and though there could be a slightly warm day here and there, the 110-degree heat indexes of summer are long gone. Get out and get a dose of 70s punk with Ramones tribute band The Morones at Mathews Brewing Co. in Lake Worth Beach, see incredible antique automobiles at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, get over to the first-ever West Side Pop-Up for music and celebrate Civil Society Brewing’s 10th Anniversary with a block party.

In addition to the top five events listed there’s always something great happening at places like The Norton Museum of Art or the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. On top of that you could always just enjoy a great meal with an equally great view at one of Palm Beach County’s waterfront restaurants from Jupiter to Boca Raton. Manatee Season Kickoff

On cold winter days, Florida Power & Light Company’s observation deck at Manatee Lagoon is the ideal spot to view manatee herds basking in the warm-water outflows from the power plant in Riviera Beach. (Allen Eyestone / The Palm Beach Post)

Did you feel that chill? The manatees did too and that means at any moment they may be showing up in the waters near FPL’s Manatee Lagoon, a that spot on the line between Riviera Beach and West Palm Beach where the warm water from FPL’s plant makes the waters inviting for the sea cows when elsewhere it’s getting nippy. To kick off the manatee season, Manatee Lagoon is hosting a weekend celebration. Free family-friendly activities celebrating the state’s favorite water mammal. There will be mini educational lecture series, face painting, food trucks, story time, games and an appearance from Mia the Manatee. The theme is “Migration Celebration,” highlighting the “incredible journey these gentle giants undertake each season” as they travel the state’s waterways.

The event is Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 6000 N. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach; visitmanateelagoon.com
