There’s a cinematic universe you’ve been missing out on and it’s Orphan Black. The original series aired in 2013, starring Tatiana Maslany as a woman discovering her involvement in a global clone experiment. Things go off the rails from there; after all, the series ran for five years. Across its five seasons, Maslany played a number of varying roles – because, well, clones are different. For her work, she took home an Emmy Award and two Critics Choice Awards. And for you elitists, the series also won a Peabody Award in 2013. It’s seriously good stuff.

During its run, the series amassed a substantial cult following, the fervent fans of which are hungry for more. In late 2023, the Orphan Black lore returned in the form of a new show, only available to watch in Australia. This month, that show is coming to the US. Orphan Black: Echoes is set in 2052, 37 years after the finale of the original series, and follows the daughter of our original heroine, now all grown up and working as a scientist studying a woman who woke up from a procedure with no memory of who she is.

That mysterious woman is played by Krysten Ritter, a familiar face to fans of Breaking Bad and Marvel’s Jessica Jones. If you guessed that she’s a clone, you’re probably right, but we’ll find out together. The series also features Avan Jogia, of Nickelodeon’s Victorious fame. So, there’s that.

When does Orphan Black: Echos premiere?

The Orphan Black sequel series premiere airs on the AMC and BBC America and streams on AMC+ on Sunday, June 23.

When does the next episode of Orphan Black: Echos drop?

New installments of the 10-episode season will drop on the platform every Sunday at 10 PM and also air on AMC and BBC America. This release schedule is a lucky spell, depending on who you ask. For the show’s Australian premiere, all 10 episodes premiered on November 3rd, creating buzz for a few days before fizzling out. On this side of the pond, we’re having an Orphan Black summer.

Will there be a season two?

A second season of the sci-fi show has yet to be announced, but its popularity outside of Australia has yet to be seen. Our guess? There’s a lot more to come from this universe. That is, if people actually stream it.

One of the more undersung streaming platforms, AMC+ offers more than Orphan Black: Echoes. Fans of dark stories will find a home on this platform, with such series as Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches starring Alexandra Daddario; Tales of the Walking Dead, an anthology series based on individual characters from the popular zombie series; and one of the greatest series ever created, Mad Men.
