Christmas came a few days early for the Lakers, thanks to Luka Doncic.
The Los Angeles superstar got over 100 electric bikes for his teammates and the organization’s staff, and he surprised them with the gifts while out at Lakers practice on Tuesday.
Los Angeles head coach JJ Redick broke the news of the presents to his team by explaining Doncic had “something for us.” Initially, at least one Laker asked if they were getting a car.
Turns out, it was a set of two wheels that retails for around $3,000.
Doncic’s teammates loved the gifts, as video the Lakers shared on their Instagram page showed some of them taking spins with big smiles on their faces.
“This is insane,” Deandre Ayton said. “I’m glad I got this bike.”
“This is awesome,” Marcus Smart added. “If I had this bike when I was a kid, I’d be one happy kid.”
Others, including Jake LaRavia and Jaxson Hayes, took to their IG Stories to thank Doncic for the gesture.
The Lakers, meanwhile, playfully dubbed the five-time All-Star “Luka Claus” while sharing images from the scene.
Doncic has been with the Lakers for a little less than a year following his shocking trade from the Mavericks in February.
He’s played in 19 games this season and has averaged 34.7 points. He’s helped lead the Lakers to third place in the Western Conference standings with an 18-7 record.
