As March Madness fans prepare for the annual tournament’s official start tomorrow, Providence is preparing to hold several games in the first and second rounds for its 12th time as a March Madness host.

While the Rhode Island capital has put in extensive work to finalize logistics for the games and visiting teams, the city has also been busy preparing for the massive amounts of fans who will be attending the games.

“March Madness is an incredible time for Providence, bringing together fans, local businesses and neighbors to celebrate the excitement of college basketball,” said Providence Mayor Brett P. Smiley in a news release. “We are committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending.”

Here’s everything to know about attending the March Madness games in Providence this year, including the schedule, ticket information, road closures and parking information.

This year, first and second round March Madness games will be played at Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence on Thursday, March 20 and Saturday, March 22.

2025’s entire tournament will last from March 18 through the championship game on April 7.

What teams will play at March Madness in Providence?

Here is the lineup of first-round matchups in Providence on Thursday, March 20:

  • 12:40 p.m. – (13) High Point vs. (4) Purdue

  • 3:15 p.m. – (12) McNeese vs. (5) Clemson

  • 7:10 p.m. – (10) Arkansas vs. (7) Kansas

  • 9:45 p.m. – (15) Omaha vs. (2) St. John’s

The winners of the first round games on March 20-21 will determine who plays in Providence’s second round games on Saturday, March 22.

How to get tickets to March Madness 2025 in Providence

While general session tickets for all Providence March Madness games are already sold out, verified resale tickets are still available through StubHub.

Parking for March Madness games in Providence

The Biltmore parking garage in downtown Providence.

While visitors are recommended to use public transportation or ride share services, the city of Providence has made accommodations for those driving to the March Madness games.

Parking is available in the Providence Place Mall Garage, Convention Center Garage and Biltmore Garage.

Street parking will not be available on West Exchange Street, next to the Convention Center and Pavilion, from Tuesday, March 18, at 6 a.m. to Saturday, March 22, at 11:30 p.m.

Those driving to the games should also be aware of the following road closures:

  • Aborn Street (between Washington and Westminster Streets): Thursday, March 20 at 8 a.m. to Monday, March 24 at 8 p.m.

  • Adrian Hall Way (between Fountain and Washington Streets): Wednesday, March 19 at 8 a.m. to Sunday, March 30 at midnight

  • Mathewson Street (between Lucie Way and Fountain Street): Thursday, March 20 at midnight to Sunday, March 23 at 5 a.m.

  • Peck Street (between Pine and Friendship Streets): Thursday, March 20 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, March 23 at noon

  • Union Street (between Fountain and Washington Streets): Thursday, March 20 at 7 a.m. to Monday, March 24 at 7 a.m.

  • Westminster Street (between Orange and Dorrance Streets): Saturday, March 22 from 8 a.m. to midnight

  • Westminster Street (between Snow and Empire Streets): Thursday, March 20 at 8 a.m. to Monday, March 24 at 8 p.m.

March Madness policies at Amica Mutual Pavilion

When entering the arena for Providence’s March Madness games at Amica Mutual Pavilion, keep the following rules in mind:

  • No outside food or beverage is permitted.

  • No weapons of any kind are permitted.

  • Clear bags or small wristlets (4×6) are strongly encouraged. Bags, briefcases, backpacks and luggage are prohibited.

  • Cameras with professional lenses, detachable lenses or detachable flashes are prohibited.

  • Metal detectors will be used at all entrances of the arena.

  • No re-entry to the arena will be allowed.

  • Smoking is prohibited.

How to watch March Madness on TV

Those who cannot make the games in person can watch live on TBS, CBS, TNT or truTV. All games will also be streamed on NCAA March Madness Live.
