Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene took to X to gush over how “good,” she believes President Donald Trump looks, after concerns about his age were raised during the campaign.

Newsweek has reached out to a representative for Greene outside of normal working hours via email for comment.

Why It Matters

During the 2024 Presidential Election race, a Morning Consult poll found that 51 percent of 2,200 registered voters polled said that Trump was too old to run. At 78-year-old, Trump is now the oldest-ever sitting president.

What To Know

Greene posted on X: “I’m so impressed at how good President Trump looks.”

“He’s healthy, sharp, and incredibly wise. He has more energy than everyone around him especially the nasty fake news that ask him the most America LAST pathetic questions.”

The post had been viewed nearly 70,000 thousand times, at the time of writing.

Trump became the oldest presidential nominee in history when Biden ended his reelection bid in 2024. Though there have been some concerns over his age, the scrutiny he has faced has been significantly less than his predecessor.

A survey taken during the campaign from The Economist and YouGov found that a majority of voters, some 56 percent, believed Trump’s age would have little to no effect on his ability to be president.

In contrast, a poll taken prior to the 2024 Presidential Election campaign in February of 2024 found that 86 percent of voters had major or moderate concerns about Biden’s age or health.

Though there is discourse about President Donald Trump and his age. Michael Steele, the former chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), recently suggested during an appearance on MSNBC’s The Weekend that Trump’s age is an influential factor in Elon Musk’s rise within the Republican party.

“Maybe he’s too old for the job now,” Steele, who is critical of Trump, said in response to a question from The Weekend co-host, Symone Sanders-Townsend.

There were some questions raised about Trump’s “mental abilities,” during the election, particularly after a rally in Pennsylvania when Trump suddenly informed the crowd that he would like to “not do any more questions” and instead “just listen to music.”

But the questioning about his cognitive abilities has never been as prominent as it was for Biden, and while there have been negative headlines regarding Trump’s age, there are other headlines from outlets like Fox News and the Washington Examiner which praise his mental fitness and stamina.

What People Are Saying

Marjorie Taylor Greene on X: “It’s just so great to have a POTUS that is more than capable of making America GREAT again!!! Praise God for answering our prayers!!”

What’s Next

Discourse about Trump’s age, mental fitness and overall appearance is likely to continue throughout his presidency.
