SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Miss Wool of America Pageant began in 1952 in San Angelo, showcasing the sheep and wool industry of the Concho Valley. The event quickly grew to the national level, with women from all over the U.S. travelling to San Angelo to represent their region. While the last pageant took place in 1972, this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, Downtown San Angelo Inc.’s version of the event will be revived for a younger group, ages 6 to 11. A representative of the organization says the revival will focus on the education of San Angelo’s history and family fun.
