ORLANDO, FL.— Since being crowned Miss West Virginia’s Teen, Jefferson County resident Demi Breeden says she has been busy with official activities like parades.

She also went to New York to choreograph the song she’ll dance to in Orlando this week as she vies for the national title of Miss America’s Teen.

“Very busy. A lot of preparation for Miss America’s Teen. A lot of dancing, which is my talent. We’ve been to New York, we’ve been to Ohio, so lots of traveling and lots of preparing,” Breeden said.

Breeden is a freshman at Washington High School in the Charles Town area and an aspiring attorney. Her baby cousin Jack inspired her work to advocate for the Ronald McDonald House.

Miss West Virginia Jennifer Reuther was working in the medical field while she prepared for the national contest and represented the crown around the state.

“I actually just hit my 100th appearance since being crowned Miss WV,” she said. “So, I’m doing that while working as a full-time physician’s assistant here in Charleston, so we have been busy for sure.”

Reuther is a Type 1 Diabetic and uses her platform to promote healthy lifestyles.

“I have been honestly everywhere throughout our state, I’ve been to the Eastern panhandle quite a few, I live here in Charleston, then of course I’ve been going down south as well,” Reuther said. “It’s been a lot of community health fairs where I’m offering my preventative screenings, to school visits where I’m reading to children and just being present in our state.

Reuther is from Wheeling, and she earned a Physician’s Assistant degree from the University of Charleston. She did her undergrad at Marshall, where she was a member of the dance team. She was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a child.

Preliminary competitions begin Tuesday. The final for the Miss America’s Teen is set for Friday, with the Miss America competition taking place Saturday.
