As players call over to those playing on the tennis court beside them, “A little help, please!” Yet in this case, a whole lot of help is needed. 

Why, in the name of survival, would an army, for 20 consecutive years, issue its highest-ranking field soldiers rifles that regularly backfire to disable or kill the shooter, and minimize chances to win the battles, if not the war? 

The top generals, no costs spared, would have it fixed — and would have to have it fixed — before the next recruit was steered toward the rifle range. 

But MLB, so irreversibly stuck in stupid, continues to throw tens of millions of dollars at pitchers who, more sooner than later, are lost to Tommy John surgery — if not forever.
