The Nationals picked up a top-50 prospect one day before MLB’s annual winter meetings kick off Sunday in Orlando, Fla.
Washington acquired catching prospect Harry Ford and right-handed pitcher Isaac Lyon from Seattle in exchange for lefty reliever Jose Ferrer, according to multiple reports.
The 22-year-old Ford is the No. 42-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, and the No. 4 prospect in the Mariners’ organization.
He was the 12th overall pick in the 2021 draft and posted an .868 OPS with 16 homers and 74 RBIs last season in 374 at-bats for Triple-A Tacoma.
Lyon, the son of former major-league pitcher Brandon Lyon, was the Mariners’ 10th-round pick last year out of Grand Canyon University.
The 25-year-old Ferrer appeared in 72 games for Washington in 2025, tied for ninth-most in the National League, recording a 4.48 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 76 ⅓ innings.
