Nicole Kidman was just hoping to pitch herself for a role in the next season of The White Lotus when her casting suggestion went viral–but for a totally unrelated reason.

Despite saying that she’s looking forward to taking a break from acting and “being off” in the coming months, the 57-year-old actress revealed that there is one project she would sign on to at any moment if she could, solely because she’s a fan.

“I’m a massive fan of Mike White,” she told reporters earlier this week. “So I’d do anything he writes.”

When Pop Crave got word of the idea, it tweeted out her comment, seemingly supporting Kidman–but not without “shading” the A-lister.

To draw eyes, it juxtaposed an image of the fictional hotel chain with what fans have described as a rather unflattering screenshot of an interaction the company had with the Holland star/producer not too long ago.

“i feel like its shade,” one suggested, noting the screen shot was taken from “the interview where she laughed in their face.”

“Pop Crave? More like bitter crave,” a second teased.

Several others suggested the media company was “still pissed” and “mad that she didn’t know who pop crave was.”

“Y’all could’ve picked any other pic, but no… y’all went straight for the ‘meep’ era,” someone else joked.

“Of all the pics,” a third quipped, “y’all picked this one.”

“Y’all did her so dirty with this one,” another X user wrote.

The screenshot used originates from a video interview Pop Crave held with Kidman during the premiere of Babygirl in December 2024. In the original clip from the exchange–which the company shared on TikTok–an interviewer off-camera introduces themselves to the star taking questions in a press line.

While the camera is rolling, Kidman appears to be clueless about the company the reporter works for–despite it garnering over 1.9 million followers on X, 31.6K TikTok followers and nearly 200K on Instagram–laughing into the camera at one point and smirking while shrugging off what some perceived as “disrespect” and a “diss” later on.

Eventually, Kidman answers the interviewer’s question–which inquired about her favorite memory of making the film–telling Pop Crave that she especially appreciated the “intimacy of all the actors” on set and making a movie that felt like it was “new territory” and “liberating.”

Needless to say, she definitely knows who Pop Crave is now–even if the so-called “bitter” move was just a coincidence.
