It’s time to open nominations for the next category of The Oregonian’s Readers Choice Awards: the best brewery or cidery in the Portland area.

If you’re looking for ideas, consider Great Notion Brewing, which earned its first Medium Brewery of the Year honors at the Oregon Beer Awards earlier this year. Or Grand Fir Brewing, which won the Small Brewery of the Year crown at those same awards then raked in more awards at this past weekend’s nationwide Great American Beer Festival.

If you want more accolades, 10 Barrel Brewing’s Portland and Bend breweries won six medals earlier this month at the Great American Beer Festival, which is considered the nation’s most prestigious competition.

Andre Meunier, The Oregonian’s beer and beverages writer, spent much of 2019 touring Portland’s breweries and ranked the top 10 beers he tasted. Spoiler: His No. 1 pick came from Von Ebert Brewing.

Or if you prefer ciders, Portland Cider Co. took home the top trophy from the International Cider Awards earlier this year.

Now it’s your turn to tell us which brewery or cidery is the best. Nominate your favorite for the Readers Choice Awards below. Nominations are open until 11 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2024. We’ll reveal the finalists on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at oregonlive.com/readers-choice.
