January 2024 (ST. LOUIS) – Operation Food Search announced that Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer in the U.S., has awarded a $75,000 grant in support of the organization’s MetroMarket mobile grocery store.

MetroMarket uses a retrofitted metro bus to travel to areas in the St. Louis community with limited access to fresh, healthy food. Shoppers enjoy significantly lower prices than retail stores and are provided with recipe cards of nutritious meals that feature the locally-grown produce that OFS secures from local farm partners.

“The MetroMarket program is one of our most innovative, taking food directly where it is needed in our community,” said Kristen Wild, President and CEO of OFS. “We are thankful for Bayer Fund’s support, which enables us to expand our reach in the 2024 season.”

MetroMarket operates every Tuesday through Friday, May through November, making two-hour stops at designated partner locations. The program is growing to include a farmers truck and various pop-up markets in 2024. Full information can be found on MetroMarket’s dedicated webpage: http://www.stlmetromarket.org
