Patrick Mahomes lept in action Monday to protect his 3-year-old daughter, Sterling, from looking up at the sky toward the sun without her protective glasses during the solar eclipse.

In a video shared by wife Brittany Mahomes, the star Chiefs quarterback can be seen moving swiftly toward Sterling as the little girl began glancing up at the moon obstructing the sun.

“Don’t look, Sterling,” Brittany can be heard in an Instagram Story, as Mahomes stretched out his arms as a shield.

Staring directly at the cosmic phenomenon without protective eyewear can potentially harm one’s retina cells or, in some cases, lead to partial blindness.

Mahomes, 28, took in Monday’s highly anticipated event with family as Brittany, also 28, chronicled bits of their eclipse viewing party on social media.

In one clip, Brittany can be seen holding Sterling as the two look upward while wearing special viewing glasses.

The Mahomes’ youngest child, 1-year-old son Bronze, appeared to stay away in the shade, according to a separate post shared by Brittany.

It’s been a family-filled offseason for Mahomes, who is just two months removed from the Chiefs’ latest Super Bowl win.

Kansas City topped the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 2024 on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas, with the Chiefs winning in overtime, 25-22.

Mahomes then celebrated his third championship in five seasons with Brittany, his high-school sweetheart whom he has been married to since March 2022.

Weeks later, the longtime couple traveled to Mexico with their kids for a post-Super Bowl getaway in March.

Speculation has been brewing for months that Mahomes and Brittany could potentially travel overseas with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who has continued to support his girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, on the international leg of her Eras Tour.

Swift, who has been dating Kelce since last summer, is on hiatus until May 9, when the tour resumes in Paris.

She supported Kelce, 34, and the Chiefs throughout the 2023 season and forged a close friendship with Brittany.
