Patrick Mahomes might not have been on the field for the Chiefs’ final home game of 2025, but he was inside Arrowhead Stadium.
Prime Video cameras spotted Mahomes inside a suite with fellow quarterback Gardner Minshew II as Kansas City hosted the AFC West rival Broncos.
Mahomes was back inside the stadium two weeks after he suffered season-ending ACL and LCL injuries in his left knee during a loss to the Chargers that ended the Chiefs’ chance at making the postseason. Minshew also landed on IR, as he sustained a left knee injury on Sunday as Mahomes’ replacement.
Chris Oladokun got the start for the Chiefs as Denver looked to lock up the division title Thursday.
Mahomes, 30, underwent surgery last week and already started the rehab process. According to the Associated Press, there is a possible timeline in which the two-time MVP is back on the field for Week 1 in 2026.
“As you know in the past with Patrick and his injuries, he attacks them and does very well,” Chiefs vice president of sports medicine and performance Rick Burkholder said last week. “He’s in that mode right now, I talk to him every day and coach [Andy Reid] does too and he’s already on it.”
As he awaits getting back on the field for real, though, Mahomes got to celebrate Christmas with his family at home, according to photos shared by his wife, Brittany, in an Instagram post on Thursday.
The six-time All-Pro quarterback was shown wearing a knee brace on his left knee as he opened presents with his wife and three children.
