BOSTON — As a general rule, Patrick Roy leaves the goalies alone.

Despite his pedigree, Roy usually makes a point out of leaving the goalie coaches to work with the Islanders goalies. Almost hilariously, and not for the first time, he prefaced an answer regarding the position Wednesday by saying, “I’m not a good person to judge that.”

So it was more than a little eye-catching to see Roy, one of the great goalies in the NHL’s history, standing in the crease with Ilya Sorokin on Wednesday giving some tips. In no small way, it’s a reflection of where things are at right now with Sorokin, who has allowed 5, 4, 5 and 4 goals in his past four starts and — after all the consternation about career-worst numbers last year — has seen his save percentage drop to .902.

“We talked about traffic play,” Sorokin told The Post. “And he said his thoughts about how I should play these moments. Try to do this.”
