The Patriots can’t catch a break.
Rookie quarterback Drake Maye had an MRI exam after practice Wednesday, according to the Boston Globe.
It came after Maye reportedly “banged up” his knee in his NFL starting debut in a 41-21 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
Maye — who was included on the Patriots’ injury report with a knee injury — was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.
The Patriots have “no great concern regarding his injury,” NFL Network reported.
NBC Sports Boston also reported the team isn’t concerned about Maye’s injury.
The Patriots did not confirm when exactly Maye suffered the injury.
Maye, the Patriots’ No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, was hit eight times and took four sacks against the Texans.
He faced pressure on nearly half his dropbacks and struggled to read the field at times.
The Patriots’ beleaguered offensive line — and the risk of Maye getting hurt — was one of the main concerns about making him the starter this season.
Maye’s three touchdown passes weren’t against pressure.
The North Carolina product took over for Jacoby Brissett after five lackluster starts from the veteran.
The Patriots fell to 1-5 with Sunday’s loss, but Maye and Co. will face an easier challenge when they battle the 1-5 Jaguars on Sunday in London.
