Announcements

Barnes & Thornburg announced that its Wilmington, Delaware, Morristown, New Jersey, and Philadelphia offices hosted a tri-state food drive for Preston & Steve’s 27th annual Camp Out For Hunger drive for the Philabundance food bank.

The event ran from Dec. 2 to 6. Collectively, Barnes & Thornburg donated 250 pounds of food to the cause.

Philabundance was founded in 1984 with the belief that no one should go hungry while healthy food goes to waste. The mission is to drive hunger from communities today and to end hunger for good. To do this, the organization works with over 350 community partners to distribute food throughout nine counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey and is a member of the Feeding America network. In addition to food distribution, Philabundance works to reduce food waste, increase access to nutritious meals, and tackle the root causes of hunger through programs such as the Philabundance Community Kitchen.

Speakers

On Dec. 11, Rawle & Henderson attorneys Zachary Rubinich and Daniel Spafford presented a live webinar on claims management of workers’ compensation claims.

Workplace accidents are costly for all industries. Many parties are involved in processing a claim for workers’ compensation, including insurance carriers, claims representatives and counsel, and each must be handled in a different manner. Rubinich and Spafford provided guidance on how to investigate workplace accidents, report injuries and provide essential claims information to workers’ compensation insurance carriers.

The webinar was designed for HR and benefits managers, safety directors, compliance officers, insurance professionals, business owners and managers as well as their accountants, controllers and attorneys.

Rubinich is a partner in the Philadelphia office of Rawle & Henderson and has more than 20 years of experience in the field of workers’ compensation. In his law practice, Rubinich defends and counsels a variety of businesses, insurers and third-party administrators against workers’ compensation claims in Pennsylvania. In addition, he assists his clients to identify ways to control rising workers’ compensation costs without litigation. He is certified as a Workers’ Compensation Law Specialist as authorized by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Spafford is of counsel to Rawle & Henderson and a member of the firm’s workers’ compensation practice group in both the Hackensack, New Jersey, and Philadelphia offices.
