The Fanatics Flag Football Classic just got bigger.
After news broke that all-pro quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts will participate in the Tom Brady-backed event, which was formally moved from Saudi Arabia to Los Angeles after war broke out in the Middle East late last month, it turned out that was just the tip of the iceberg.
The competition will be littered with NFL talent, highlighted by stars such as Rams WR Davante Adams, Eagles WR DeVonta Smith, Eagles RB Saquon Barkley, Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty and Browns DE Myles Garrett.
The event will feature three teams: two comprised of current and former NFL talent and word-class athletes, and the third being the reigning IFAF Flag Football World Champion U.S. Men’s National Team.
Having the Team USA flag football roster as part of the event is key for this competition as flag football will be a part of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, and brings up the question: Should NFL players be allowed to compete?
U.S. Men’s IFAF flag football quarterback Darrell “Housh” Doucette added fuel to the fire when put NFL players on notice, saying, “I feel like I’m better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ of the game.”
For years, Doucette has said flag football is different from the pros.
There’s no blocks, no stiff arms, no contact. There’s less players and a smaller field. Plus, pulling a flag is a skill that looks closer to ballet than tackle football.
NFL stars would need some time to learn it, but there’s no doubt they would master it.
Here’s a list of everyone scheduled to compete for the two non-IFAF teams.
