The Rangers bolstered their defensive depth on Wednesday, signing Scott Morrow to a one-year, two-way deal.
According to The Post’s Mollie Walker, the contract is for $850,000 at the NHL level and $125,000 at the AHL level.
The 23-year-old Morrow, a right-handed defenseman who played 29 games for the Rangers last season after being acquired in the K’Andre Miller deal, will enter camp in the running for the seventh defenseman spot.
While Adam Fox, Sean Durzi and Braden Schneider appear locked into the Rangers’ right-handed defense spots, Morrow and Urho Vaakanainen could compete for a backup role.
Matthew Robertson could also be in that mix, but after being a lineup regular last season, looks likely to be on the left side of the third pair.
Morrow did not score a goal for the Rangers last season, but had six assists. In 34 games with AHL Hartford, he scored five times with 14 assists.
