Twenty-four-year-old gun control activist David Hogg was elected vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) this month after being endorsed by former Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA). With a record of making some of the most insane social media posts of all time, many of Hogg’s takes quickly resurfaced following his DNC victory, giving me the opportunity to rank them. So, without further ado, here are DNC Vice Chair David Hogg’s ten most insane tweets.

While not as insane as the others, this post still warranted inclusion after aging worse than milk. Joe Biden dropped out of the race six months after Hogg’s post, with his replacement Kamala Harris losing both the electoral college and popular vote to President Donald Trump.

Few people actually got to see what Hogg’s initial tweets were, but his self-deprecating apology was ridiculed on social media. Hogg would go on to make a number of other self-deprecating apologies which were similarly ridiculed.

After making the argument that political violence was “not the answer,” Hogg quickly backtracked and issued an apology for his “offensive” remarks.

“Let me be clear what I am NOT trying to do is tell BIPOC people how they should react to violence directed at them by the state,” he wrote. “It’s not my place or any white persons to direct or criticize the way BIPOC people choose to defend themselves against this violence from the state.”

Hogg continued, “I am sorry for how understandably anyone could have misinterpreted what was said. I appreciate those that have called me out and let me know how this tweet was offensive and I am welcome to continuing to learn. Many are understandably upset and offended and I have have to do my part in admitting to mistakes when I make them and supporting my friends.”

In a long series of posts, Hogg made the case to his followers why children were worse for the environment than sports cars and why kids were “the new boats.”

“I’m never planning on having kids. I would much rather own a Porsche and have a Portuguese water dog and golden doodle,” he declared. “Long term it’s cheaper, better for The environment and will never tell you that it hates you or ask you to pay for college.”

Hogg added, “To be clear I am not telling you what you should or should not do. Deciding to have children or not is your choice. I’m just expressing my own view on it.”

In a post outlining his “radical” political beliefs, Hogg proposed the implementation of a “100% tax” on billionaires and said the country should “legalize all drugs.”

“I don’t think anybody should have over $1 billion in assets there should be a 100% tax after your first billion,” he said. “I think we need to do what Australia did in regards to guns. We need universal healthcare… Free college for all… Legalize all drugs.”

Following the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots, Hogg urged the government to designate the National Rifle Association (NRA) as a terrorist organization.

After being ridiculed for this post, Hogg added, “Plenty of people will think this is dumb- good for you. I’m not looking out for an election and I’m entitled to my own opinion no matter how much you disagree. There’s a block botton.”

After he tweeted that Lincoln “was a really good president,” Hogg quickly backtracked and apologized to his followers.

“Actually, I was not aware of the scope of how detrimental he was so many native american populations. He was not a really good president,” Hogg wrote. “I thank my indigenous peers that brought my attention to Lincoln’s atrocities committed against native Americans. I’m deeply sorry for not acknowledging these crimes that I was unaware of until now. I will do better in the future.”

While Hogg has made many insane social media posts since his rise to political prominence in 2018, this 2022 post is the clear winner of the bunch.

“I’m one of the most politically toxic people in the country and I’m too radical for American politics,” he wrote. “No, I’m not running for office.”

Hogg continued, “We have enough straight white men in power. It’d be nice to see some people who actually look like our country and not privilege.”

Less than three years later, Hogg would run for and win the position of vice chair of the Democratic National Committee.
