Who knew a vacuum could make so much of a difference to your day-to-day? In the last five or so years, I’ve held little importance to the type of vacuum I have, often opting for mid-to-low range models that don’t stay effective for long and end up actually costing me more in the long run. That was until three months ago, when I got my hands on the latest launch from leading home appliance brand, Shark – Shark’s PowerPro Cordless Vacuum Cleaner.
New to the market, it’s more budget-friendly compared to the brand’s other models, is designed with the usual anti-hair wrap technology and allergen seal, and can detect different floor types before adjusting brush-roll speed and suction. In other words, it’s a pretty major addition to Shark’s existing and hugely popular line-up of cordless vacuums.
And for Prime Day, the Amazon Exclusive version of my cordless vacuum has been significantly discounted, down from £249.99 to just £169.99 – that’s a £80 saving.

What’s the same?
👉 Both cordless vacuums feature FloorDetect, Anti-Hair Wrap, and Anti-Allergen technologies. They have up to a 50-minute runtime, two cleaning modes: Eco and Boost, and come complete with two attachments.
What’s the difference?
🆕 The Amazon Exclusive version, Shark PowerPro IZ370UK, doesn’t feature the same flexible wand as my model, but that’s the only feature missing. It’s also a different colour, with a silver and mauve finish, rather than navy and metallic.

One feature I’m incredibly impressed by is the FloorDetect Technology, which automatically detects floor type and adjusts the brush-roll speed and suction for optimised cleaning. The downstairs of my house is carpeted in the living room, and tiled in the kitchen. This vacuum glides seamlessly over both and picks up everything with ease, including breadcrumbs from last night’s dinner, bits of tangled hair, and general dirt build-up.
You can see the floor detection in action through the floorhead, which lights up blue on hard floors and purple on carpets or rugs. The vacuum’s body also displays corresponding icons that illuminate based on the surface.
I can also verify the vacuum’s anti-hair wrap capabilities. I’m someone with thick, dark hair, and, more often than not, you’ll find heaps of it throughout the house. This vacuum makes light work of picking up hair build-up, and not once have I had to detangle the brush roll – which, with my previous cordless vacuum, I was having to do on a weekly basis.

As for noise level, it’s like any cordless vacuum. I tested it against a decibel monitor, and found it to hit between 76dB and 86dB.
There are two modes to choose from when vacuuming: Eco – great for standard, everyday cleaning – and Boost, which is activated using a blue trigger near the top of the vacuum and is ideal when you need a burst of power.

I can’t speak 100% on the effectiveness of the allergen seal, but regular usage of this vacuum, combined with my dehumidifier (mine is from Meaco), has absolutely made a difference to my dust allergy in particular, causing less skin irritation, respiratory struggles and sneezing.
It also has an impressive runtime. One session in standard mode lasts up to 50 minutes, giving me plenty of time to zip through a quick clean, even across both floors.
Charging the battery is also incredibly easy. The vacuum features a removable battery pack with an illuminated display showing the remaining charge percentage, and it recharges impressively fast.

A great addition to my household this year, I can see this vacuum lasting for years to come and will absolutely be recommending it to anyone looking to invest in a new cordless vacuum that’s effective, easy to use, and doesn’t shatter their bank balance.
✋ Reasons to avoid
It only comes with two attachments, which, in comparison to other cordless vacuums available from Shark, is quite limited.
I will also say that when using the upholstery attachment, it doesn’t feel as strong in suction as I would have liked. I tested it in my fiancé’s car, and although it didn’t do a bad job, it wasn’t as powerful as I expected it to be.
If you’re someone with a bigger house (I live in a two bedroom terrace), then you’ll probably want something a bit more heavy-duty to tackle multiple larger rooms in one go.
