SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – The Krewe of Gemini XXXVII has announced this year’s grand marshal as Chef Niema DiGrazia, who recently won on Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay.
Chef Niema was born in Sierra Leone and found her love of cooking at an early age. Today, she fuses the flavors of west Africa with southern soul to create her own unique style.
Since coming to Shreveport, Chef Niema has done it all, now working as executive chef at Abby Singer’s Bistro in downtown.
Chef Niema’s winning dish on Beat Bobby Flay was maafe, a peanut stew from her home country.
“Chef Niema embodies the true spirit of Mardi Gras. She represents resilience, culture, and celebration, bringing people together through flavor, tradition, and joy. We are honored to have her lead us as our grand marshal,” said Krewe of Gemini Captain Cole Guthrie.
