Jonathan Owens is taking notes from wife Simone Biles’ gymnastics skills — and applying them to his football games.

In the middle of Owens’ Sunday, November 24, Chicago Bears game, he scored a forced fumble, meaning that the NFL safety intercepted the ball from the Minnesota Vikings’ Aaron Jones.

To celebrate the impressive recovery, Owens, 29, and his teammates ran into the end zone, where he demonstrated a perfect gymnastics-style salute.

Biles, 27, is a record-breaking Olympic gold medalist, marrying Owens in April 2023. She was also on hand at Sunday’s game, kissing Owens ahead of kickoff.

She reacted to his game-day tribute, too, and shared footage onto her Instagram Story with a trio of white heart emojis.

Biles recently caught heat for her own salutes. When she competed in the balance beam event finals at the Paris Olympics in July, she received a point deduction for failing to salute the judges long enough.

The next day was Biles’ turn in the floor exercise finals, and she made sure to hold her salute until she was completely off the mat.

Biles earned three gold medals at the Paris Olympics in the individual all-around, team event and vault finals. She also clinched silver on floor behind Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade.

Owens attended several days of the competition, receiving special permission from his Bears coaches to miss training camp practice. Ahead of the championship meets, he gave Us a glimpse into how he cheers Biles on from the stands.

“It is not much motivation you need to do, just because you don’t want to put extra, added pressure on anyone,” Owens exclusively told Us Weekly in July. “I just tell her, ‘Go do your thing, baby.’… As long as she’s there, she’s on the field, give her a kiss and we can go about our way.”

Owens added at the time, “You get a different type of focus whenever you just have this one person that you’re focusing on. And I ain’t saying there’s something wrong with being single, but for me, knowing myself, I’ve played a lot better since [meeting Simone], I’ve just been focused and locked in, and you come home, talk about my day and play with the dogs, you know what I mean? That’s just kind of, like, our thing.”

Biles is equally supportive of Owens’ athletic achievements. Since wrapping her Gold Across America Tour earlier this fall, she’s been a fixture at his football games. On Sunday, she dressed to impress in a denim bomber jacket and a matching pair of jeans. Both Biles’ jacket and purse had Owens’ No. 36 affixed to them.
