VERO BEACH — Singer, actor, author and record company head Pat Boone will be the keynote speaker at the 21st annual Vero Beach Prayer Breakfast.
The breakfast will be at 7:30 on Thursday in Riverside Park.
Michele Bachmann, dean of the Robertson School of Government at Regent University, and Erwin W. Lutzer, pastor emeritus of The Moody Church in Chicago, also are scheduled to speak.
Boone, 90, is known for his pop, rock ‘n’ roll and gospel music, but he is also an author. He wrote his first book, “Twixt Twelve and Twenty,” in 1958, and has since published others about his born-again Christianity. In 2011 he co-wrote “Questions About God — And the Answers That Could Change Your Life” with journalist Cord Cooper.
Charles Eugene Patrick Boone was born in Jacksonville and raised in Nashville, where he started his singing career in church. His music has landed on Billboard’s Hot 100 numerous times, even reaching the No. 1 spot, and has earned him six GRAMMY nominations. Boone has multiple stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to the Recording and Television categories and is a Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee.
Who is Pat Boone?
Boone has collected an impressively lengthy list of titles over the past 90 years. He rose to fame as a teenage singer and since has become an actor, TV host, producer, songwriter, author, motivational speaker, radio personality, record company head, sports team owner, family man and humanitarian.
He is widely known for his 1950s hit songs including “Ain’t That a Shame,” “Love Letters in the Sand” and “I’ll Be Home.” Elvis Presley even opened for him once at a “sock hop” in Cleveland.
Boone also starred in 26 films and had his own weekly musical variety show. He is now a national spokesman for the 60 Plus Association and airs on radio shows, “The Music of Your Life” and “The Pat Boone Show,” which features contemporary gospel. He also writes columns on politics and religion, which can be found on WoldNetDaily.com and Newsmax.com.

Boone was married to Shirley Foley Boone, daughter of country music legend Red Foley, whose monumental impact on the genre contributed to its growth after WWII, for 65 years before she died in 2019. The two had four daughters.
Who is Michele Bachmann?
Bachmann was the first Republican woman from Minnesota elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. She represented Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District from 2007-2015 and is a founding member of the congressional Tea Party Caucus. Bachmann ran for president in 2012 on a conservative platform, but stepped down after coming in sixth in the Iowa caucuses.
She now directs her focus to preparing the next generation of government leaders as a professor and dean of the Robertson School of Government at Regent University, a private Christian university in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Who is Erwin W. Lutzer?
Lutzer is pastor emeritus of The Moody Church in Chicago, where he was the senior pastor for 36 years, from 1980-2016.
He earned a bachelor of theology degree from Winnipeg Bible College, a master’s degree in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, a master’s in philosophy from Loyola University Chicago and an honorary doctor of laws degree from Simon Greenleaf School of Law, now Trinity Law School in Bannockburn, Illinois. He speaks on two religious radio programs; is an award-winning author of more than 70 books; and speaks at domestic and international Bible conferences and seminars.
