Coaches can’t do this — won’t do this. Players, if they value their scholarship, their NIL and their playing time, can’t do this — won’t do this. They are nourished by the grind. They exist in the moment, in today, in the here, in the now.
So good luck getting anyone officially associated with the St. John’s basketball team to tell you that there is anything on their minds other than a flight to O’Hare Airport early next week and then a game with DePaul scheduled for next Tuesday in Chicago.
We, of course, are under no such obligation.
