Travelers can see real-time wait times on the MyTSA app, at Palm Beach International and Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airports. And some stores are opening bright and early after Thanksgiving for Black Friday.

That’s an important thing to know since a record 4.5 million Floridians are expected to travel 50 miles or more, according to AAA, part of an astounding 80 million travelers during the holiday this year. What will they be driving or flying through?

Thanksgiving travel: Tips for PBIA, finding where traffic is snarled
Anyone in Palm Beach County dreading their flights for Thanksgiving can take comfort in the fact that the two most popular airports for county residents have relatively fast security lines and not many flight delays.
Security wait times at Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport rarely exceed 15 minutes, even during the Thanksgiving holiday, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
“For Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, I haven’t seen a reportable wait time for quite a while,” TSA spokesperson Mark Howell said. Passenger traffic at the airports has risen 6% to 7% over the past year, he said. When wait times at security lines exceed 15 minutes, TSA must log that in their records, he said.

Black Friday is still two weeks away, but many retailers have already started slashing prices for one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
Many stores no longer open for Black Friday on Thanksgiving, to give employees and shoppers more time with their families on Thursday. But with the later openings come earlier sales, starting before Thanksgiving Thursday.
