Tarek El Moussa is sometimes in complete disbelief that he and wife Heather Rae El Moussa will star alongside his former spouse, Christina Hall, in The Flip Off.

“Man, I never, ever in my life thought this show would happen,” Tarek, 43, exclusively told Us at the Us Weekly + Pluto TV Reality Stars of the Year Party at Los Angeles’ Dream Hotel on Thursday, October 10. “Sometimes I’m sitting there and I’ll have a moment where I look over at Heather, my wife, and I look over to the other side, and there’s my ex-wife, Christina. And I wonder, ‘How did I get here?’”

Heather, 37, chimed in, noting that Tarek “does say that a lot” on set, telling Us, “He’s like, ‘How did I get here? How am I building with my ex-wife and my wife?’”

Tarek subsequently stressed that “we’re gonna win” the competitions. He jokingly added, “We have to.”

Tarek and Heather got married in October 2021, three years after his divorce from Christina, 41. News broke in May that Tarek and Christina would reunite onscreen for the first time since Flip or Flop ended in 2022 after 10 seasons.

The Flip Off will see Tarek and Heather face off against Christina as they complete opposing house flips. Christina was initially slated to appear alongside now-estranged husband Josh Hall, who will no longer participate following their ongoing divorce. (Christina and Josh both filed for divorce in July after three years of marriage.)

Amid her divorce, Christina has remained focused on her work projects including HGTV’s The Flip Off. The Christina on the Coast host, Tarek and Heather have also teamed up for several promotional TikTok videos, often joking about the apparently awkward dynamics of working with a former partner.

“I feel like we’re pretty good at the one-and-done. It’s just been fun,” Heather said. “It’s a fun, creative thing that we’re doing, making fun of all the people that make fun of us.”

Off-camera, Tarek and Christina amicably coparent daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 7. (Christina also shares son Hudson, 4, with ex-husband Ant Anstead, while Tarek and Heather welcomed their son, Tristan, in January 2023.)

“[It’s] very important. We coparent amazing,” Tarek told Us. “Both sides are obsessed with the kids, and they’re thriving right now, which is great.”

The Selling Sunset alum, for her part, concurred, adding that, “Most important is their happiness.”

The Flip Off premieres on HGTV in early 2025.
