While Lopez rarely appears on the MTV series, Lowry started quietly seeing him in 2016. The twosome welcomed their first child together, Lux, in August 2017. While their relationship quickly became on-again, off-again, the reality TV personality told Us in January 2019 that the duo are always in each other’s lives.

“I mean, Chris and I are always together even when we’re not together. If that makes any sense. Don’t be surprised if you see a wedding in the tabloids the next month!” she quipped at the time.

In February 2020, Us confirmed that the duo are expecting their second child together. During her pregnancy, Lowry accused Lopez of cheating in March 2020. He denied her claims, writing via Instagram that she was creating drama to share on Teen Mom 2. They welcomed their son Creed in August 2020.

That October, Lowry was arrested for allegedly punching her ex in the face during a fight about Lux’s haircut. According to court documents obtained by Us at the time, Scott claimed that Lowry “started attacking him [and] punching him several times on the head and upper torso because she did not want the child’s hair cut,” in addition to stating he did not try to fight back at her. Lowry, for her part, told police the fight “never became physical.”

The pair’s ups and downs continued in May 2023 as Lowry alleged that Lopez tried to “kill” her during a domestic dispute while she was pregnant with Creed. “He put my face into the couch and was just smothering me into the couch,” she alleged during an appearance on the “Dumb Blonde” podcast. “I don’t know what took over me but I fought for my f—king life. I just remember just turning my head a certain way and being able to, like, gasp for air. I still did not want to call the f—king police. I was so just, like, ‘I want you to choose me, I want you to get better.’ You know? It was sick.”

Lopez addressed her claims not long after via TikTok Live, stating that while had “never almost killed nobody,” Lowry’s story wasn’t entirely false. “I did choke her. I already admitted that. It’s already on my record. The DV [domestic violence] is true. I’m not gonna hide from that. That’s something I’m honest about. The DV part is true,” he explained. “But the whole beating her up part? No, that’s not true. I never beat her up. I never did any of that s—t.”
