It’s long overdue for Finn Balor.

The Bullet Club founder is on the short list of talents WWE never truly fully capitalized on and has let him hit a ceiling of sorts after years away from the main event scene. Last Monday on Raw, it felt like WWE and Balor’s character were finally shaking themselves free of the malaise it had been under.

Balor put down the backstage video games, concern for tag or mid-card championships, and will take a swing at CM Punk and the World Heavyweight championship Monday on Raw in his home country of Ireland. Sadly, WWE’s newfound interest in Balor as a singles competitor may have been sped up after tag team partner JD McDonagh needed hand surgery.

The Prince’s last one-on-one match for a world championship in WWE was August 2023 against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. His previous world title feud before that saw “The Demon” character lose to Roman Reigns in an awful finish that included a turnbuckle rigged to break so the Tribal Chef could escape with the win at Extreme Rules 2021. A Demon loss to Edge at WrestleMania 39 followed.
