The Jets had a meeting scheduled with Sean McDermott on Jan. 14, 2015, to interview for their head-coaching opening. They ended up canceling the night before when they decided to hire Todd Bowles.

Three years later, Bowles was part of the Jets contingent that traveled to Laramie, Wyo., to watch Josh Allen throw at his pro day on March 23, 2018. The Jets decided to draft Sam Darnold instead.

Now, there is no way of knowing whether McDermott would have found success as the Jets coach or whether Allen would have turned into the MVP candidate he is now. But on Sunday night, the two were busy making snow angels as the Bills celebrated their fifth straight AFC East title.

The Jets are now looking for their fourth head coach since canceling that interview with McDermott, then the Panthers defensive coordinator. They have been through Darnold, Zach Wilson and Aaron Rodgers as franchise quarterbacks since passing on Allen, and likely will be looking for another one in 2025.
