The Pitt‘s Supriya Ganesh revealed a surprising detail about filming a scene between Mohan and Abbot — featuring a shirtless Shawn Hatosy.
“Shawn and I had so much fun playing with that scene. It was really great to work with him,” Ganesh told Us Weekly exclusively at Actors Rising Presented by The Actor Awards and ELLE on Thursday, February 26. “And we actually shot that scene right after he won his Emmy — literally I think it was the day after.”
Ganesh joked that she thought Hatosy was going to “hate working” with her. “All of a sudden, I don’t know why I thought that,” she continued. “But then we just got on set and it was just like, ‘Oh, that’s Shawn and he’s great.’ He’s such a gifted and lovely and giving actor. He is so great to work with.”
The Pitt, which premiered on HBO Max in January 2025, followed a group of employees at a fictional Pittsburgh hospital’s ER working a single 15-hour shift. After its debut, The Pitt won big at the Emmys with trophies for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
In addition to Ganesh and Hatosy, The Pitt stars Noah Wyle, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell and Shabana Azeez.
When season 1 was still airing, fans started to show support for a romance between Mohan and Abbot — courtesy of Ganesh and Hatosy’s onscreen chemistry.
“I get DMs about it all the time. I got DMs about the bench scene in season 1 and it’s so funny because this was before episode 7 came out,” she recalled to Us. “And I just was like, ‘Oh, just wait. I think we got something better than the bench scene.’”
Ganesh was “really happy” Hatosy got a scene in season 2 where he was shirtless — in front of Us and Mohan, adding, “It’s good for him.”
Despite the overwhelming interest in seeing Mohan and Abbot as a couple, Ganesh wasn’t sure what is to come.
“It’s whatever the writers think is right. That’s where a lot of this came from. There was a writer in season 1 that was like, ‘Oh, I think these two would be really good together,’” Ganesh revealed. “Shawn and I leaned in. It’s great that everyone also has supported it. So really, it’s just up to what the writing team wants.”
Ganesh could see why the fictional pair could be a good match though, saying, “There’s a lot of similarities there. They’re also messed up in similar ways too. Honestly, I think it’s like pros and cons.”
New episodes of The Pitt premiere on HBO Max every Thursday.
