OXFORD, MS − Ole Miss got a monster performance from Ilias Kamardine, who scored 25 points to lead the Rebels to a 83-77 win over Memphis basketball Nov. 11 at The Pavilion.

Kamardine’s big night highlighted what was also a stellar 3-point showing by Ole Miss (3-0). Chris Beard’s team, which came in shooting 40% beyond the arc, scorched the nets against the Tigers (1-1) at a 61.5% rate (8 for 13).

The Rebels’ offensive output overshadowed Memphis’ balanced attack, which saw four Tigers score in double figures.

Dug McDaniel gave Memphis 15 points, while also pacing the visitors in rebounds (seven) and assists (six). But it was Curtis Givens III, who started hot and finished strong, leading the effort with 18 points. Ashton Hardaway scored 16 points (11 in the first half), while shooting 70% from the field, to help power the Tigers. Hardaway also had four assists.

Sincere Parker contributed 12.

Ole Miss led by as many as 11 points multiple times during the game, the latest coming with 7:39 remaining in regulation. But Memphis never let up, cutting it 77-73 on a Givens 3-pointer with 2:03 to play.

The Tigers had a chance to make it a one-possession game with less than two minutes remaining, but trailing by four points, Aaron Bradshaw missed two free throws.

Memphis has lost five in a row in Oxford, Mississippi, the last win coming in December 2005.

Memphis basketball vs Ole Miss score updates

Ilias Kamardine powered Ole Miss to its halftime lead with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.

Ashton Hardaway’s 11 points led all Tigers in the first half, while Dug McDaniel scored 8 first-half points for Memphis.

The Tigers jumped out to a 12-7 lead, largely thanks to Curtis Givens III’s hot start. After Ole Miss won the tip, the sophomore LSU transfer stripped the ball away and scored on a breakaway layup. Later, he hit a 3-pointer – his first of the season.

Ole Miss went on a 7-0 run after that to take some momentum back.

Chris Beard will send out a starting five of AJ Storr, Malik Dia, Ilias Kamardine, Kezza Giffa and James Scott.

Tigers forward Hasan Abdul Hakim will not play against Ole Miss as he continues to recover from a quad injury that also kept him out of the season opener vs. San Francisco.

Penny Hardaway will send out the same starters as the season opener: Dug McDaniel, Sincere Parker, Curtis Givens III, Aaron Bradshaw and Thierno Sylla.
