Former President Donald Trump appeared to reference the infamous Access Hollywood tape which was published late in the 2016 campaign in which he said he could grab women by their genitals because of his fame.

Discussing Elon Musk’s and SpaceX’s rocket boosters, Trump said, “And those two big arms, you saw the arms, they grab that thing like you grab your beautiful baby … Years ago, I would have said something else, but I’ve learned.”

He added: “I would have been a little bit more risque.”

The ex-commander-in-chief made similar comments over the weekend.

Trump reflects on end of campaign

17:19 , Gustaf Kilander

Reflecting on the end of the campaign, Trump said, “I won’t be doing this anymore with North Carolina, and I won’t be doing this anymore … after today.”

“I’m just thinking, as I’m going through this, that this will be our final moment, but … the more exciting moment is going to begin,” he added. “These moments of hundreds and hundreds of the most incredible rallies any country, no country has ever seen anything like that. But these moments that we’ve had together, these really were just to create what we hopefully will create tomorrow, which is we’re going to make America great again.”

Trump’s longest-serving Chief of Staff John Kelly has said that the former president fits the description of a “fascist.”

Trump responded on Monday, saying that he should have been fired and calling him a “disaster.”

The former president also said former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley “should have been fired.”

“All those generals – Kelly should have been, Kelly was such a disaster. Some people are good, some people are not good, some people are stupid,” Trump said.

Trump jokes that Biden voted for him

16:41 , Gustaf Kilander

Trump joked on Monday that Biden “probably” voted for him because of what the former president said is his dislike for Kamala Harris.

“He actually hates my guts, but he likes Trump more than he likes Kamala,” he said.

“He just got 14 million votes,” Trump said in reference to the Democratic primary.

Trump responded to a member of the audience who suggested that Biden voted for him.

“That’s one of the ladies from North Carolina. She said he voted for me – probably did,” Trump said.

Trump repeats false FEMA claim

Trump once again made the false claim that FEMA funds were allocated to help undocumented migrants.

“FEMA did a horrible job. The administration – they’re still not there. You know why? Because they’ve spent all their money on bringing in murderers and a lot of people,” Trump said on Monday in Raleigh, North Carolina, speaking about hurricanes striking Florida, North Carolina, and other states. “They spent all their money on bringing in illegal migrants. They’ve also taken a lot of your jobs, especially jobs from the Black population.”

Trump made similar comments over the weekend:

“Then you see those arms, like you grab your beautiful baby, your beautiful child … In the old days, I would have said like you grab your — girlfriend,” Trump said over the weekend.

“Now I don’t say that anymore. I say, like you grabbed your child. And those big arms came in and they grabbed that sucker and they held it in place like you grabbed your child. And I said, ‘That’s unbelievable’,” he added.

Trump claims to have had ‘great relationship’ with former president of Mexico as he announces 25% tariff

Trump claimed to have had a “great relationship” with the former president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“He was a socialist, but you can’t have everything,” Trump told the audience in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Trump said he may impose a 25 percent tariff on Mexico if he returns to office.

“Now we have a new president in Mexico, I suppose, a very nice woman … I haven’t met her, and I’m going to inform her on day one or sooner, that if they don’t stop this onslaught of criminals and drugs coming into our country, I’m going to immediately impose a 25 percent tariff on everything they send into the United States of America,” Trump said.

Cardi B has fired back at critics over her Kamala Harris rally speech in an expletive rant.

The rapper, who previously hit out at Elon Musk for calling her a puppet who “can’t even talk without being fed the words”, posted a video on TikTok to respond to the criticism she received.

She said: “I worked so hard, bro. I worked so hard on my speech and a lot of y’all talkin’ about like “Oh why are you reading it from your phone?’

Trump says RFK Jr’s plan to remove fluoride from water ‘sounds OK’ as he refuses to rule out banning vaccines

13:40 , Joe Sommerlad

Donald Trump has said that Robert F Kennedy Jr’s plans to ban fluoride from drinking water “sounds OK to me” as he also refused to rule out banning some vaccines if he secures a second term in the White House.

The Republican presidential candidate recently announced that he would give RFK Jr free rein to do “anything he wants” and “go wild” over health, food and medicines during his potential second administration.

One such plan floated by RFK Jr is to remove fluoride, a mineral used to prevent tooth decay, from the nation’s drinking water supply – and Trump appears to be on board.

“Well, I haven’t talked to him about it yet, but it sounds OK to me,” the former president told NBC News’s Dasha Burns during a phone call on Sunday.

NBC gave Donald Trump’s campaign two free commercial slots on Sunday following a backlash over Kamala Harris’s Saturday Night Live appearance, with Republicans arguing that the network had flouted the Federal Communications Commission’s “equal time” rules by allowing the Vice President to appear but not the former president.

Trump took to the airwaves to deliver a bruising 60-second, pre-recorded message, which was shown towards the end of both Sunday evening’s Nascar playoff race and the big NFL Sunday Night Football game.

Sporting a red MAGA hat, Trump urged viewers to get out and vote just two days from election day, warning that Harris would trigger a “depression” across the US if she won.

Trump says he should never have left the White House in 2020

Let’s get back to the Republican’s haggard performances on the campaign trail on Sunday.

We’ve already seen Trump in Georgia but, prior to that, Trump addressed a crowd in Lititz, Pennsylvania, and openly lamented leaving the Oval Office four years ago, STILL refusing to accept what was an overwhelmingly clear defeat by Biden that his associates fought to debunk in court and simply could not for want of evidence.

He also had some other disturbing remarks to make about climate change, Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Obamas, asylum seekers and the bizarre fantasy prospect of college wrestlers battling illegal immigrants.

New York Times Editorial Board attacks ‘unfit’ Trump on election eve

10:40 , Joe Sommerlad

Without mentioning Kamala Harris by name, the newspaper’s editorial board comes out strongly against the Republican nominee with the following statement:

“You already know Donald Trump. He is unfit to lead. Watch him. Listen to those who know him best. He tried to subvert an election and remains a threat to democracy. He helped overturn Roe, with terrible consequences. Mr. Trump’s corruption and lawlessness go beyond elections: It’s his whole ethos. He lies without limit. If he’s re-elected, the G.O.P. won’t restrain him. Mr. Trump will use the government to go after opponents. He will pursue a cruel policy of mass deportations. He will wreak havoc on the poor, the middle class and employers. Another Trump term will damage the climate, shatter alliances and strengthen autocrats. Americans should demand better. Vote.”

Given that rival outlets like The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and USA Today have controversially declined to offer an endorsement either way, this is strong stuff from the NYT.

Harris leading in four swing states in respected late poll

10:20 , Joe Sommerlad

The Harris campaign is cheering the news that its candidate has taken a marginal lead in several key swing states in the final New York Times/Siena College poll, making gains in Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Georgia.

Harris leads Trump by 49 percent to 46 in Nevada, 48 to 46 in North Carolina, 49 to 47 in Wisconsin and 48 to 47 in Georgia, which means it all remains extremely tight down there.

Trump, meanwhile, is thought to be ahead by 49 to 45 in Arizona and, perhaps most agonisingly of all, the two candidates remain deadlocked in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Kamala’s final event of the campaign season in Philadelphia tonight will see her joined on stage by Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, Ricky Martin, The Roots, Fat Joe, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Cassidy, Jazmine Sullivan and Adam Blackstone but there are plenty of other famous faces coming out to support her today.

In Pittsburgh, Katy Perry, D-Nice and Andra Day will all be performing.

Meanwhile in Harrisburg in the same state, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and legendary actors Robert De Niro and Sam Waterston will take part in a New Way Forward Get-Out-The-Vote rally.

Over in Las Vegas, Christina Aguilera, Los Tigres Del Norte and SOFI TUKKER will take to the stage while actress Eva Longoria will deliver remarks.

Actors and advocates Dulé Hill and Rosario Dawson will likewise launch canvasses across Vegas.

In Detroit, Tim and Gwen Walz will be supported with musical performances by the Detroit Youth Choir, Jon Bon Jovi and The War and Treaty.

And in Atlanta, a huge election eve convert is taking place featuring 2 Chainz, F.L.Y., Joy of Jesse & Joy, Keyshia Cole, KP The Great, Morehouse House of Funk Marching Band, Pastor Troy and Tamar Braxton.

This is where the candidates are spending their final hours of the campaign today.

  • Kamala Harris will concentrate all of her remaining energies on Pennsylvania, appearing today in Allentown, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, joined by a number of mega-celebrities along the way (more on which in a moment).

  • Donald Trump will begin his day with an event in Raleigh, North Carolina, before speaking in Reading and then Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania before capping off with a late evening closer in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

  • Harris’s running mate Tim Walz will start his day in St Paul, Minnesota, before hitting La Crosse, Stevens Point, and Milwaukee in Wisconsin

  • Trump’s running mate JD Vance will meanwhile close out his campaign in Flint, Michigan, Atlanta, Georgia, and Newtown, Pennsylvania.

  • Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will also be on the trail, delivering remarks at a canvass launch in Greenville, North Carolina, before joining his wife for final two events in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Tired Trump promises ‘landslide’ win but says his second term could get ‘nasty’

09:00 , Joe Sommerlad

Good morning!

Donald Trump completed his third rally in three states on Sunday with an evening event in Macon, Georgia.

The Republican nominee, however, appeared absolutely shattered as he promised a “landslide” win tomorrow night while warning that his belated second term would be “nasty a little bit at times, and maybe at the beginning in particular”.

His audience certainly did not appear to be transfixed.

To an extent, Trump’s weary appearance is understandable in light of the gruelling campaign schedule he has committed to in recent months.

The man is 78, after all, the oldest to run for president in American history.

But given that he has so often attacked his political opponents for being “low energy” in the past, his obvious exhaustion is worthy of note – particularly as he is currently asking the electorate to return him to their highest office for another four years.

ICYMI: Round up of Trump’s first rally speech

04:30 , Michelle Del Rey

While we’re waiting for Trump’s second rally of the day to begin in Kinston, North Carolina, here’s a reminder of what he said if you didn’t catch the first one in Pennsylvania.

During a two-hour address on his first stop of the day in the borough of Lititz, Trump gave a profane and conspiracy-laden speech in which he mused about reporters being shot and labeled Democrats as “demonic.”

Noting the ballistic glass placed in front of him at events after a gunman nearly assassinated him at a July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump talked about places where he saw openings.

Trump also referred to John Bolton, his former national security adviser and now a strident critic, as a “dumb son of a b****.” And he repeated familiar and debunked theories about voter fraud, alleging that Democrats could only win by cheating.

“It’s a crooked country,” Trump said. “And we’re going to make it straight. We’re going to make it straight.”

Harris surpasses Trump in Iowa – poll

04:00 , Michelle Del Rey

Kamala Harris has surpassed Donald Trump in a new poll in Iowa, a state Trump easily won in 2016 and 2020.

Women and older voters are responsible for the remarkable turnaround in the Selzer poll carried out for the Des Moines Register newspaper and released on Saturday.

The poll of 808 likely voters, who were surveyed between October 28 and 31, has Harris leading Trump 47%-44% in a state that has been trending deeply Republican in recent years. It is within the 3.4 percentage point margin of error, but it marked a turnaround from a September Iowa Poll that had Trump with a 4-point lead, the newspaper reported.

However, the Emerson College Polling/RealClearDefense survey of a similar number of likely voters on November 1 and 2 had a starkly different result, with Trump leading Harris by 10 points.

This poll also has a 3.4 percentage point margin of error. The Emerson College survey had Trump with strong leads over Harris among men and independents, while Harris was performing well with those under the age of 30.

SNL’s Kamala Harris cameo might have violated fairness rules

While this year’s presidential election may not have as much of a focus on climate change as many wish it would, voters can still make a difference when they head to the polls.

Across the US, there are 159 statewide ballot measures in 41 states, according to Ballotpedia. Only a handful of those deal with environmental issues and just a couple are specifically related to climate change.

Unsurprisingly, these measures are on the ballot in states threatened this year by extreme climate events. Earth had its hottest summer on record, bringing historic temperatures across multiple regions.

Donald Trump said he “shouldn’t have left” the White House after losing the election in 2020 as he appeared to veer off-script at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump targeted the swing states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia on Sunday and made the remarks at his first rally of three in the borough of Lititz.

Much of the speech was spent repeating unfounded claims of voter fraud and election interference, as he did in 2020. “I shouldn’t have left, I mean, honestly,” he told the rally.

She posted a photo saying: “I voted for the candidate who does not assault women!”

In September, Trump’s attorneys argued to reverse a $5 million defamation verdict against the former president, who a jury found liable for sexually abusing Carroll, a writer, in a department store in the 1990s.

Trump insists that he has never met Carroll and has labelled her a liar, claims that landed him a second defamation lawsuit, which he lost earlier this year. A separate jury awarded Carroll more than $83 million.

The Harris campaign has responded to Trump’s speech earlier in Pennsylvania, calling it “angry, alarming, expletive-laden.”

Ammar Moussa, the campaign’s director of rapid response, shared the following statement:

“As Vice President Harris spent today at church in Detroit, talking to voters about her vision to lift up all Americans, Donald Trump was busy violating the Ninth Commandment.

“Trump is spending the closing days of his campaign angry and unhinged, lying about the election being stolen because he’s worried he will lose.

“The American people deserve a leader who tells the truth and will walk into the Oval Office focused on them – that’s Vice President Harris.”

Trump campaign issues statement over Republican’s comments about the press

Sunday 3 November 2024 19:16 , Rhian Lubin

Trump’s campaign has issued a statement in the last hour attempting to clear up comments he made earlier, where he said he “wouldn’t mind” if someone had to “shoot through the fake news ” to get to him.

In a statement, Steven Cheung, communications director, said Trump was “brilliantly talking about the two assassination attempts on his own life” and was actually “looking out for the welfare” of the press.

“The President’s statement about protective glass placement has nothing to do with the Media being harmed, or anything else. It was about threats against him that were spurred on by dangerous rhetoric from Democrats.

“In fact, President Trump was stating that the Media was in danger, in that they were protecting him and, therefore, were in great danger themselves, and should have had a glass protective shield, also.

“There can be no other interpretation of what was said. He was actually looking out for their welfare, far more than his own!”

Trump said at the rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania earlier today: “I have this glass here. But all we have really over here is the fake news. And to get me, somebody would have to shoot through the fake news, and I don’t mind that so much.”

However, while Harris has a wider range of rich donors, Trump’s cash-flush pals have overall given more, with 18 of the top 25 individual donors giving exclusively or mostly to Republicans, according to an Open Secrets analysis.
