College sports are known for their unusual promotional nights, but UCLA’s women’s basketball team is taking it to another level.

As the Bruins are set to host UC Irvine on Thursday night, the team is having “Leather Pants Night.”

The team announced the promotion on social media on Wednesday night with a graphic featuring head coach Cori Close celebrating her team winning the National Championship last year, while wearing a pair of leather pants.

“U-C-LEATHER-A! 🙌,” The team wrote on an X post. “Bruin fans, come dressed in your best leather tomorrow night as we take on UC Irvine!”

It’s unknown what the exact reason is behind why UCLA is having a leather pants night, but one could predict that it would be because Close, as leather pants have been a staple to her coaching wardrobe.

The post then features a link to where fans can buy tickets, starting at $14.

“Wear LEATHER to Thursday night’s game against UC Irvine, and you can get 2 free tickets to a future women’s basketball game,” the graphic reads.

The Thursday night leather game is the Bruins’ second game of the season, after they opened their season knocking off Lehigh, 73-53, on Tuesday night.

UCLA got off to a 32-27 lead in the first half against Lehigh, but then took off in the third quarter, scoring 23 points and giving up only nine.

Sophomore guard Sienna Betts and senior guard Donovyn Hunter combined for 29 points and 10 rebounds against Lehigh.

UCI will be playing its first game of the season against UCLA.

The Bruins and Anteaters will tip off at 7:00 p.m. PT.
