Bill Belichick, 74, and Jordon Hudson, 25, reportedly ended their relationship at the end of last year, but the news apparently surprised people working inside North Carolina’s football program.
Two people in the Tar Heels’ football office told USA Today Sports on Friday they were unaware that Belichick and Hudson had broken up after a report emerged from TMZ that the couple quietly separated in late 2025.
TMZ cited sources close to Hudson who are said to have direct knowledge of the relationship.
Despite no longer dating, the two reportedly remain close friends and business partners, according to TMZ.
Another source informed TMZ that Hudson has begun seeing other people, although her current relationship status remains unclear.
Neither Belichick nor Hudson has publicly confirmed the breakup.
The two met on a flight in February 2021, but their relationship wasn’t made public until 2024.
The two have been at events together this year, including the Kentucky Derby in May and multiple games during the college football season.
Belichick spoke about his relationship with Hudson with the Wall Street Journal in September and said reports that Hudson was trying to assert control over the football team were “ridiculous.”
“The way the story was picked up was a long way from that,” he told the outlet. “Like, ‘She’s trying to be the general manager of the team,’ and it’s so ridiculous.”
TMZ indicated that Hudson was on the sidelines, supporting Belichick and the Tar Heels for their most recent home game against Syracuse, a 31-30 loss.
The Tar Heels are 4-3 this season and will host the nation’s No. 1 Miami Hurricanes on Saturday.
UNC went 4-8 last year, Belichick’s first season as the head coach.
