WASHINGTON DC—On January 6, a joint session of Congress met to certify the results of the votes cast on November 5, 2024, in the 2024 U.S. Presidential election. As the 12th Amendment of the Constitution dictates, Kamala Harris, as Vice President until January 20, presided over a peaceful transfer of power from the current, President Joe Biden to President-elect, Donald J. Trump, who officially has been nominated the 47th President of the United States.

“The [Vice President who is], “The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives open all the certificates and the votes shall be counted,” —The 12th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

State by state, Harris read the results of the votes cast by the U.S. Representatives in the state’s electoral votes.

Trump is also the first Republican President to win the popular vote in two decades.

Republican leaders including, House Majority Leader, Steve Scalise (R-LA) commended Harris for a job well done in certifying the election.

“It was really neat to see the certification go smoothly. I thought Vice President Harris handled it well. It was neat to have JD Vance in the chamber too, as a sitting senator at the time, but getting ready to become the vice president of the United States so that, you know, it’s very historic.”

“It went great. It went smooth[ly]. This is a textbook transition of power. This is how democracy is supposed to operate,” House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer (R-KY) first told Fox News Digital.

On Friday, January 3, in a 218-215 count vote Rep., Mike Johnson (R-LA) won a second term as Speaker of the House for the 119th Congress to begin on January 20th when Donald Trump takes his Oath of Office.

Before being elected, Speaker Johnson made the following statement to the 118th Congress.

“Republicans have a real opportunity in the next two years to make meaningful spending reforms to eliminate trillions in waste, fraud, and abuse and end the weaponization of the government.”

As he takes office, Trump is facing a huge national debt, inflation, unsecured borders, astronomical unemployment… The U.S. is on the brink of war and is losing favor with its political allies. On the campaign trail, Trump promised a safer and more secure country.

It has been said that the President of the United States serves a four-year term, but the first 100 days are key.

The emphasis on the first 100 days earned its significance during the Presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt(D-1932-1945) who made a campaign promise of change in his “first 100 days” in office during a time when over 10,000,000 were unemployed and nearly all of the banks were closed.
