The Food Network selected the most charming small-town restaurant in every state, and California’s pick was an Italian spot in La Jolla.
Ambrogio15 Pacific Beach, at 926 Turquoise Street, Suite H, specializes in pizzas using only premium imported Italian ingredients and locally sourced produce, according to its website.
“Ambrogio15 Pacific Beach is a hidden gem that deserves to be found,” according to the Food Network post. “Helmed by Michelin-starred chef Silvio Salmoiraghi and chef Choi Cheolhyeok, this restaurant offers up a modern spin on Italian cuisine with flavor profiles from Milan.”
Some cities in the list did not fit the profile of a small town. While La Jolla has around 40,000 people, it still made the Food Network list.
Other “small town” restaurants included the cafe Elvie’s in Jackson, Miss., which has more than 153,000 people; the eatery Everest in Rapid City, S.D., which has nearly 75,700 people; and Culaccino in Franklin, Tenn., which has approximately 83,400 people.
