It’s just a month into President Donald Trump’s second term and some of his new policies are unfavorable among voters.

According to a national study conducted by Emerson College Polling, President Trump’s new approval rating decreased one point, and now sits at 48%. His disapproval rate increased by one point. He now has a 42% disapproval rate.

The findings suggest unpopular domestic and foreign policy ideas are the cause, however, the rating “has not shifted significantly since last month,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling.

The survey was conducted between Feb. 15 and Feb. 17, and surveyed 1,000 participants.

The data sets were weighted by gender, education, race, age, party registration and region, the report stated.

Forty-five percent of American participants disapprove of the job Elon Musk is doing with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk also a got 41% approve rate while 14% are neutral.

Here are the findings:

Voters do not agree with the three of the changes to U.S. states and territories: 58% oppose the U.S. owning the Gaza Strip, 55% oppose U.S. adding Canada as a state and 44% oppose adding Greenland as a U.S. territory.

Tariffs

  • 39% think they create American jobs

  • 39% think they eliminate jobs

  • 22% think they have no impact on jobs.

“A majority of Republicans think tariffs help create American jobs at 65%, while a majority of Democrats think tariffs eliminate American jobs at 61%,” Kimball added. “Independents think they eliminate jobs 39% to 31%.”

Elimination of US Agency for International Development

  • 44% oppose its elimination

  • 36% support the decision to eliminate it

Elimination of The Department of Education

  • 58% oppose its elimination

  • 30% support the decision to eliminate it

Republicans vs Democrats

  • 12% of Democrats support eliminating the Department of Education while 82% oppose

  • 53% of Republicans support eliminating the Department of Education while 34% oppose

  • 16% of Democrats support eliminating the U.S, Agency for International Development while 68% oppose

  • 62% of Republicans support eliminating the U.S. Agency for International Development while 21% oppose
