The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team has one last opportunity to improve its ACC Tournament seeding, and avoid being the No. 15 team in the contest, when they host Virginia for the regular season finale on Saturday, March 8 (3/8/2025).

Syracuse blew another halftime lead to lose a heartbreaker, 77-75, to the SMU Mustangs on Tuesday. The Orange are already locked in to the ACC Tournament, but they blew a big chance to improve their seeding with the loss, which dropped them to 12-18 overall and 6-13 in the ACC.
Syracuse was on the verge of succeeding in its upset bid over the Mustangs, but a late rally saw the Orange collapse, yet again, as SMU’s Keon Ambrose-Hylton tipped in missed shot with three seconds on the clock. Lucas Taylor led Syracuse with 13 points.
It’s down to the very last game of the season for Syracuse to make a bid for the No. 14 seed in the ACC Tournament. If the Orange can beat Virginia (15-15, 8-11) and Cal loses to Notre Dame, the Orange could face off with the No. 11 seed, instead of the No. 10 seeded team, in the first round.
