The 25th Rochester Polar Plunge is set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 2, at Ontario Beach Park in Charlotte.

Registration for the event, which benefits Special Olympics New York programming and services, starts at 9 a.m., and the Plunge is at noon. Each participant must raise at least $100 to partake in the Plunge and you’ll have to bring your own towel this year as towel service won’t be provided.

The Plunge will be held alongside the city’s annual Lakeside Winter Celebration, featuring ice and snow-sculpture contests, the “Chilly” Chili Challenge, horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating, fireworks, live music and food and drinks.

Participants should be in for a relatively nice plunge this year as the forecast calls for cloudy skies with a high around 37. However, wind gusts are expected to get up to 26 miles per hour Sunday and there’s a chance of snow after 1 p.m. For more Polar Plunge information, go to polarplunge.net.
