President-elect Donald Trump, who carried Michigan in the 2024 presidential election, will be inaugurated Monday in Washington, D.C., with events featuring country singer Carrie Underwood and 1970s disco group, the Village People.

The 60th presidential inauguration will take place on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and marks the peaceful transfer of power from outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, to Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.

Trump defeated Harris in the November election after Biden chose to step aside and not seek a second term.

Trump, who was Biden’s predecessor, is only the second person to return to the White House — after Grover Cleveland — after losing an election for the office.

This year, Inauguration Day falls on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

“Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump,” the post concluded.
