North Texas hosts Navy in a matchup between two of the top non-Power Four contenders for a College Football Playoff spot.

The Mean Green (7-1, 3-1 American) face a virtual must-win scenario when they host the Midshipmen (8-0, 5-0), as their path to reaching the conference championship game becomes very muddy with two conference losses.

North Texas quarterback Drew Mestemaker has been a revelation in 2025, as the redshirt freshman ranks second nationally with 2,468 passing yards. The first-year starter also has 21 passing touchdowns to four interceptions and has also rushed for four scores.

Navy has a talented quarterback of its own, as well. Blake Horvath, a second-year starter, leads the team with 814 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, and also has 1,063 passing yards with seven touchdowns.
